RISON - The Democrat Party of Cleveland County will host its County Convention on April 20, 2024 in the Hall-Morgan Building beginning at 12 noon until 4 p.m. All committee members are required to attend.

RISON - A trackhoe sits idle Monday after taking down a section of the former Cleveland County Nursing Home facing Fifth Street in Rison last week. Huntley Dirt Works of Sulphur Springs began tearing down the facility last week.

New Edinburg All School Reunion Planned April 27

NEW EDINBURG - Re-Newing Edinburg will once again be the sponsor of the New Edinburg All School Reunion which has been held continuously since the mid 80s or approximately 40 years. The event was first held at the New Edinburg School and recently moved to the New Edinburg Community Center.

ELIN BRADLEY, a 7th grader at Rison Middle School, was named March student of the month for grades 7-9. She is the granddaughter of Michele Northrop and James Johnson. Her activities and honors include Junior Beta Club, Student Council, G.T., Junior Quiz Bowl and FBLA.

Herald Collecting Petition Signatures

RISON - The Cleveland County Herald is collecting signatures for petitions supporting the Arkansas Government Disclosure Amendment of 2024 and the Arkansas Government Disclosure Act of 2024 to assure transparency within state and local government.

Rison Mayor Seeking Pickleball Interest

RISON - Anyone interested in starting up pickleball games in Rison should contact Mayor Charles Roberts at City Hall, (870) 325-6381.Roberts said he is gauging the local interest before possibly pursuing a grant to install a court in Rison.

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn High School Senior Chloe Hargis has officially committed to joining the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) cheerleading squad. At a signing ceremony held March 26, Hargis solidified her dedication to the sport she loves, marking a milestone in her athletic journey.
