WHS Spanish Club Hosting Sock Drive

WOODLAWN - The second annual Toasty Toes sock drive is being sponsored by Woodlawn High School Spanish classes and Spanish Club. The goal is to collect at least 350 pairs of socks so that each Woodlawn Elementary student in Kindergarten through sixth grade will receive socks.

Food Pantry Saturday, Nov. 18 at Macedonia MBC

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, located on Hwy. 35 South, will open its Food Pantry Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The church holds its food pantry the third Saturday of each month.

AGFC Confirms Sighting of Mountain Lion at Amity

AMITY - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has confirmed a mountain lion sighting near Amity in Clark County. The sighting was reported by a hunter who captured the animal on a game camera. AGFC biologists have investigated the sighting and determined that it is credible.

RISON - The Cleveland County School District could be opening bids for the Rison School cafeteria expansion by mid-December, Superintendent Jerrod Williams told the Cleveland County School Board Tuesday night.

RISON - Dozens of people were on hand at the Cleveland County Courthouse Saturday morning to see descendants of Artie Elizabeth Hamilton Ryburn formally unveil a hand-sown World War II "Service Men's Quilt" made by the Home Demonstration Clubs of Cleveland County in 1944.

RISON - Voters in justice of the peace Districts 7 and 8 will be deciding who will represent them on the nine-member Cleveland County Quorum Court when they go to the polls for the Republican primary election on March 5, 2024.

Kingsland Council To Meet Thursday

KINGSLAND - The Kingsland City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Kingsland City Hall, Mayor Sharon Crosby has announced. The November meeting was moved up one week due to the regular meeting date conflicting with the Thanksgiving holiday.
