RISON - Powell Park will host a Winter Fest Soup & Chili Cookoff Saturday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. The fest will include door prizes and pictures with Santa. The cookoff will include people's choice voting and cash prizes for the winners. Vendors are welcome for the event.

County Democrats Meeting Nov. 18

RISON - The Democratic Party of Cleveland County will have a County Committee meeting and Thanksgiving Lunch Saturday, November 18 at 12 Noon at the Hall-Morgan Veterans building, County Chair Jametta Harper has announced. Any and all interested citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting.

Thanksgiving Program Sunday at Summit Baptist

PINE BLUFF - Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway in Pine Bluff will host a special Thanksgiving program Sunday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. Special vocalists for the evening will include Bethany Gere, Jessica Lake, and Aaron Grice.

Solid Waste Station Hours Changed for Fall, Winter

RISON - The Cleveland County Solid Waste Transfer Station on Hwy. 79 at Rison is now open Monday through Friday. Until further notice, the hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In addition to accepting household waste, the transfer station can also accept other items as well.

Cleveland Co. Cares To Host BBQ Fundraiser Lunch on Nov. 19

RISON - Cleveland County Cares, a non-profit groups that helps provide Christmas for needy families in the county, is hosting a pulled pork barbeque sandwich fundraiser beginning at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in the fellowship hall at Rison Baptist Church. Take-out will be available.

Pesticide Training Dec. 7 in Rison

RISON - The Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Service will conduct a Pesticide Applicator Training Session Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Cleveland County Veteran's Building at 6 p.m. Each participant will be charged a $20 training fee which will go towards training materials.

Rison Students of the Month

Logan Miller, an 8th grader at Rison Middle School was named October student of the month for grades 7-9. Logan is the son of David and Nicole Miller, and the grandson of Susan Nichols and David Yardley, and Judy and Chuck Hansis. He has two siblings, Tyler and Sarah.
These students consistently exhibited good behavior and were nominated by their homeroom teachers for the month of October.
