Primary Ballot Draw To Be Held Dec. 7

RISON - The ballot draw for the 2024 preferential primary election has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the courthouse in Rison, John Appleget with the Cleveland County Election Commission has announced.

School Lunches for November 27-December 1

Rison Elementary Monday - chili with cornbread or pizza stick with marinara. Tuesday - Tacos or hamburger. Wednesday - meatballs with mashed potatoes or chicken sandwich. Thursday - chicken fried rice or grilled cheese with fries. Friday - pizza, pizza and sidekicks, Nachos for 4-6th grade.

Hop on Pop Memorial Blood Drive Dec. 27

RISON - Rison United Methodist Church will be hosting a food pantry from 9 to 10:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month. The next food pantry will be held Saturday, Nov. 25. Note for the month of December, the pantry will be open on the fifth Saturday, Dec. 30.

Kingsland Approves Rate Increases

RISON - Kingsland residents will be seeing an increase in their water and sewer bills soon after the Kingsland City Council voted last week to implement the rate changes for both services as recommended by a recent rate study.

Woodlawn Staff Receives $750 One-Time Payments

RISON - Both certified and classified staff for the Woodlawn School District received an extra $750 just in time for the Christmas season as the Woodlawn School Board unanimously approved granting the one-time payments during its regular monthly meeting last Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Woodlawn Hosts County's First 'Digital Skills' Training Session

RISON - Woodlawn High School hosted the county's first "digital skills" training class last week in what will eventually become a way to help anyone in Cleveland County who wants to learn more about how to use technology and the internet.

Sadler To Resign CCSB Zone 4 Seat

RISON - Stan Sadler, the Zone 4 representative on the Cleveland County School Board, submitted a letter of resignation to Superintendent Jerrod Williams last Thursday, Nov. 16. When asked the reason for his resignation, Sadler responded, "No reason.

Many Local Offices Closing Two Days For Thanksgiving

RISON - The Cleveland County Courthouse as well as Rison City Hall will be closed both Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Federal government office, Arkansas state government offices, the U.S. Postal Service and banks will be closed on Thursday, Nov.
