GOP Committee Announces Filing Period for 2024 Election

RISON - The Cleveland County Republican Committee announced the filing period for justice of the peace, constable and committee membership will begin at noon Monday, Nov. 6, and end at noon Tuesday, Nov. 14. The Republican Primary is scheduled on March 4, 2024, and the general election is Nov.

Solid Waste Station Hours Changing

RISON - The Cleveland County Solid Waste Transfer Station on Hwy. 79 at Rison is now open Monday through Saturday. Beginning Oct. 30, the hours will change to the new schedule below, there will be varying hours of daily operation at the transfer station: Monday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

School Lunches for Oct. 30 - Nov. 3

Rison Elementary Monday - pizza pasta bake or chicken sandwich. Tuesday - nachos or hamburger. Wednesday - chicken nuggets or beef fingers. Thursday - breakfast or mini corndogs. Friday - pizza, pizza and sidekicks, Nachos for 4-6th grade.

The New Edinburg High School Class of 1957 and friends were blessed to have another gathering on Oct. 7, 2023. John L. McClellan hosted the group again at The Bridge Creek Lodge in New Edinburg. Our first gathering was May 16, 2015, when we started making memories with twenty-four in attendance.

Arkansas Grown Conference, Expo Jan. 25-27 in Hot Springs

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Department of Agriculture will partner with several Arkansas agricultural associations and organizations to host the second Arkansas Grown Conference and Expo on January 25-27, 2024, at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Retired Teachers Meeting is Nov. 14

The Cleveland/Dallas County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Dallas County Library in Fordyce. All retired certified and classified school personnel are invited and encouraged to attend.

Avian Influenza Found In Oklahoma Chickens

LITTLE ROCK — Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been detected in poultry flocks in eight states over the past few months, most recently in Carter County, Oklahoma, about 300 miles from the Arkansas border.
