Woodlawn To Survey District's Equipment

RISON - Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock informed the Woodlawn School Board during its regular monthly meeting Monday night that Energy Systems Group (ESG) will conduct of "feasibility study" of the district's equipment to get a better idea of what improvements could be made in the future.

Hwy. 35 Junk Hunt Merges Into Great South Arkansas Hunt, Adds Fourth Day

RISON - Nine years ago when Jennifer Via founded and organized the Historic Hwy. 35 Junk Hunt which consisted of a series of rummage sales along a 120-mile route that extended from Benton to Dermott, she had no idea how much it would grow.
Via followed the hunt with the Hwy.

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board noted during its December meeting that the January board meeting has been moved to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the administration building in Rison. The board usually meets the second Monday of each month.

RISON - The January meeting of the Rison City Council has been moved to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Rison City Hall, Mayor Charles Roberts has announced.
Roberts said he decided to postpone it a week due to the regular meeting date's proximity to the New Year's Day holiday.

Kingsland To Consider Water Merger

KINGSLAND - With higher water and sewer rates set to begin this month, Mayor Sharon Crosby told the Kingsland City Council that the city has been invited to consolidate its water department with the Outside Kingsland and West Saline Water Associations, both of which have already agreed to a merge.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR APRIL SOLAR ECLIPSE - The highlighted roadways in the map above are the ones that the Arkansas Department of Transportation expects to see the highest volume of traffic affiliated with sightseers wanting to experience the total solar eclipse on April 8. The path of total coverage is about 100 miles wide and is shaded in gray on this map. While Cleveland County is just outside the path of totality, it is still expected to see 97 to 99 percent of the sun covered by the moon.
State Expecting Increased Traffic With Solar Eclipse

LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) expects to see as many as 700,000 extra vehicles along the state's roadways for the approaching April 8 solar eclipse, prompting the department to release a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) in anticipation of the massive uptick in traffic.
