Rodgers Road West Temporarily Closed This Friday Morning

RISON - Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings has announced that Rodgers Road West will be closed beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, for approximately four hours while a culvert is replaced.

Kingsland Council Formally Approves Secretary Position

RISON - The Kingsland City Council approved two ordinances Monday night that establish a financial administrator/secretary position for the city and outlines the duties of an elected city treasurer/ recorder.

Woodlawn Board Schedules Special Meeting on Aug. 17

Rison Class of 1988 To Meet on Oct. 13

RISON - The Rison High School Class of 1988 will have a 35-year reunion beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at El Girasol Mexian Restaurant in downtown Rison before the Rison-Fordyce football game at George Walker Field of Champions.

Historical Society Sets New Meeting Time for Aug. 17, Previews Quilt

RISON - The Cleveland County Historical Society will meet on August 17 at 10 a.m. at the Roy and Christine Sturgis Library of Cleveland County in Rison. This is a change in meeting time.

USDA Commodities Not Distributing Month of August

KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry located at 650 Hwy. 97 in Kingsland will not be handing out USDA commodities for the month of August. Open Door Pantry usually distributes commodities on the second Saturday of each month. The pantry will resume Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Mt. Olivet To Host Food Bank Saturday

CALMER - Mount Olivet Methodist Church at Calmer will have its Food Bank from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, the church has announced. Mount Olivet is located at the Hwy. 63/ Hwy. 114 junction at Calmer. The food bank is held the second Saturday of each month.

Food Pantry Aug. 19 at Macedonia MBC

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, located on Hwy. 35 South, will open its Food Pantry Saturday, Aug. 19 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The church holds its food pantry the third Saturday of each month.

Woodlawn 7th Grade Orientation: WHS Open House Tuesday

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn High School will host its 7th grade Parent/Student Orientation and Registration at 5 p.m. this Thursday, Aug. 10, in the cafetorium. Meanwhile, an Open House for all high school students will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10.
