Kingsland Reunion Meeting Thursday

KINGSLAND - Kickstart Kingsland will host a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at Kingsland City Hall. The meeting will focus on the upcoming all-school reunion.

Y - The Y/Hwy. 212/Hwy. 133 Volunteer Fire Departments will host its annual chili supper Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Y Community Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults, and $5 for children. A cake walk and auction will also be held.

RISON - RHS Prom Closet will be held Saturday, Feb. 11 at Rison Baptist Church, organizer Mallory Stuckey has announced. The closet provides an opportunity for girls to try on new and gently used formal dresses, and take home one free dress.

STAR CITY - The Board of Directors of C & L Electric Cooperative has named David Vondran as the new CEO/General Manager. Board President Robert Floyd said, "We are excited to announce David Vondran as the newly appointed CEO of C&L Electric." Vondran succeeded Greg Smith who retired in December.

USDA Commodities Postponed to Feb. 18 at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry located at 650 Hwy. 97 in Kingsland will now be handing out USDA commodities from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. This month’s pantry has been postponed a week due to delivery delays from the recent ice storms.
FAMILIAR SCENE AROUND CLEVELAND COUNTY - A fallen tree blocks a lane traffic along Hwy. 133 north of Rison after last week's ice storm with about a half inch of ice accumulate snapped trees and trees limbs, and downed power lines. Charlotte Quimby of the Arkansas Department of Transportation service center at Rison said every highway in the county had trees across them as a result of the storm, including U.S. Hwys. 63 and 79.
