RISON - Community leaders and volunteers spent Friday evening hearing new ideas and honoring their own volunteers of the past year during the return of the Celebrate Cleveland County Banquet - the first since 2020.

First Purple Martins Seen at Woodlawn

RISON - Judy Johnson of the Woodlawn community reported the first sighting of a purple martin in Cleveland County on Tuesday morning, Feb. 28. The sighting of the first purple martins is considered a sign that spring is just around the corner.

Rejuvenated NWTF Jakes Day Sees One of Best Crowds Ever

RISON - Organizers for the Cleveland County Cutters & Strutters Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) are already discussing the possibility of having to find a new home for its Jakes Day next year as Saturday's youth event drew a record-breaking crowd.
