RISON - Local businesses in downtown Rison are planning to kick off the holiday shopping season just before the big game kicks off in Rison, Friday, Nov. 18 by hosting a Holiday Open House.

One Killed, Six Injured In Hwy. 63 Accident

RISON - A head-on collision along Hwy. 63 in Bradley County Friday night resulted in the death of one Cleveland County resident and left six others injured, according to the Arkansas State Police. Leshia Sowheaver, 59, of Rison, died in the accident that took place at about 8:20 p.m. Friday, Nov.

County Approves Some Changes In Pay Schedule

RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court approved a recommendation from the Pay Committee to provide pay changes for some positions, and also decided to buy a new road grader rather than lease one.

Kinsmen Concert Nov. 19 at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - The Kinsmen Quartet will be in concert Saturday, Nov. 19 at Kingsland United Methodist Church. The concert is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Pastor David Andrews invites the public to attend.

Extension To Offer Class on Canning Salsa, Pickles Nov. 18

RISON - The Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Office will be offering a Salsa and Pickles Canning Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, at Cleveland County Fairgrounds meeting room/kitchen in Rison. Note: This workshop has been rescheduled from its original date of Nov. 11.

Co. Courthouse Announces Veteran Holiday Closings

RISON - The Courthouse will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day, Judge Melody Spears has announced. Normal business hours will resume Monday, Nov. 14. The Transfer Station will be closed Friday, Nov. 11 through Monday, Nov. 14. It will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Rison Shine Christmas Parade Set For Dec. 1

RISON - Rison Shine will host its annual Christmas Parade Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m., President Celeste Beatty has announced.

Bird, Ellis Wed At Petit Jean

Trent and Lori Bird are happy to announce the marriage of their son Jordan Bird to Maddy Ellis. The couple exchanged vows at Petit Jean State Park on October 9, 2022. Jordan is a graduate of Wood‐lawn High School, UCA, and earned a PHD at UT Knoxville.
