Revamped Christmas Festival Set For Next Thursday at Village

RISON - The annual "Christmas in the Village" event at the Pioneer Village is changing things up this year, pivoting from a traditional Saturday event to a nighttime celebration to boost community participation.

Forestry Commission Plants Shade Tree at Rison Elementary

RISON - The Arkansas Department of Agriculture has selected ten schools to participate in the 2025 Shade Trees on Playgrounds (STOP) Program, one of which was Rison Elementary School. A ceremony was held Thursday, Nov. 13 to plant a shade tree on the school campus near the playground.

CCSD Voters Approve 6-Mill Increase

RISON - Voters in the Cleveland County School District overwhelming supported a 6-mill tax increase in Tuesday’s election to support construction of a new gym at the Rison School campus.The final but unofficial total had 870 votes for the millage (68.2 percent) and 405 votes against the millage (31.

RISON - One long-time justice of the peace on the Cleveland County Quorum Court and one member of the Woodlawn School Board decided not to seek re-election as the filing period for the 2026 primary and school elections came to a close at noon last Wednesday (Nov. 12).

Woodlawn Board Approves Budget For Cafeteria Expansion Project

RISON - After taking a week to think about it, the Woodlawn School Board voted during a special meeting Monday night to approve a “conceptional budget” of $1.44 million to build an addition to the school cafeteria as well as add a second serving line and make renovations to the kitchen area.
