Quorum Court Approves Raises in 2026 Budget

RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court approved a 2026 budget Monday night that includes a pay raise for all county employees next year, and also approved a 4 percent one-time payment for all full-time employees this year for Christmas.

Christmas Events Across County Begin This Week, Set Busy December

RISON - With December bringing in the holiday season, several Christmas events are set across the county. Christmas in the Village The Pioneer Village at Rison kicks things off this week with its annual 'Christmas in the Village' event Thursday, Dec. 4.

RISON - With Christmas only weeks away, local charity organization Cleveland County Cares is gearing up for another record year of helping families and children in need.

Herald Will Not Publish Paper Week of Dec. 22-26

RISON - The Cleveland County Herald will not be publishing a newspaper during the week of Dec. 22-26 due to the newspaper taking its annual Christmas break, editor/publisher Britt Talent has announced.The Herald office will be closed from noon Friday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Dec. 26.

Ballot Draw To Be Held Dec. 4 at Rison

RISON - The Cleveland County Election Commission has announced that the ballot draw for the 2026 Preferential Primary Election will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Cleveland County Courthouse, 20 East Magnolia Street in Rison.The public is invited to attend.

Kingsland Council Meeting Canceled

KINGSLAND - The November meeting of the Kingsland City Council was canceled last Thursday evening due to a lack of a quorum of council members.Mayor Karen Wiscaver said the meeting will not be made up, and the business on the November agenda will be addressed during the December meeting.

RISON - The official results of  the Cleveland County School District’s millage election held last Tuesday, Nov. 18, show a higher percentage of voters turning out in most precincts and the measure gaining more support in areas where it had previously performed weaker.
