RISON - Three of the four candidates running for Cleveland County Judge participated in a political forum hosted by the Cleveland County Republican Party last Thursday evening in the Family Life Center at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church near Rison.

RISON - All three candidates for Cleveland County Sheriff participated in a political forum organized by the Cleveland County Republican Committee held last Thursday evening in the Family Life Center at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church near Rison.
WINTER STORM DAMAGE - Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock informed the Woodlawn School Board Monday night that the campus suffered some damage from the recent winter storm that dumped about 3 inches of sleet on the county. Staff found two metal purlins supporting the roof inside the field house twisted from the weight of the ice. He said there was also damage to some of the lights at the baseball field as well as some air conditioning units being dented by ice falling off buildings.

Woodlawn School Board Passes on Property Offer

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn School Board decided to pass on an offer to buy 33 acres of land near the school after the board and the owner of the property could not come to an agreement on the price.

RISON - Early voting for the 2026 primary election begins this Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street in Rison across from the courthouse.Early voting will be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb.

CCSB Gets Bond Update; Will Sell New Edinburg Property

RISON - Superintendent Davy King gave the Cleveland County School Board an update Monday night on the district’s bonds that will fund the construction of the new gym while informing the board the district is getting ready to put the former New Edinburg School property up for sale.
