‘Cats Still Seeking First Win of Year

RISON - Rison continues to search for that first win of the season after the Wildcats fell to the Ouahcita Warriors, 72-45, in an 8-2A conference game last Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the Rison Gym. The loss dropped the ‘Cats to 0-5 in conference play and 0-14 overall.

Lady Bears Drop Two 8-2A Games

WOODLAWN  - The Woodlawn Lady Bears dropped both of their 8-2A conference games last week, falling to the Gurdon Lady Devils, 56-40,  in a road last  Tuesday on the road and then suffering a 45-33 setback to the league-leading Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans last Friday at the Woodlawn Gym.

Bears Move Into First Place Tie

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn held its last two opponents to less that 30 points as the Bears moved into a three-way tie atop the 8-2A standings after blowout wins over Gurdon and Parkers Chapel last week.

Lady Bears Drop Two Over Holidays

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn Lady Bears dropped two games over the Christmas break, falling to the Mountain Pine Lady Red Devils, 55-47, on Dec. 19 and then to Haskell Harmony Grove, 51-40, on Dec. 28. Game details were not available at press time.

Bears Pick Up Two Wins at Tournament

DONALDSON - The Woodlawn Bears went 2-1 in the Holiday Hoops Tournament held last week at Ouachita High School in Donaldson. Woodlawn edged the Saline County Christian Home School team, 76-74, in the first round last Thursday before falling to Haskell Harmony Grove, 61-31, on Friday.

Wildcats Continue To Seek First Win

RISON - The Rison Wildcats continue to look for their first win of the season as they fell to Parkers Chapel, 63-38, in 8-2A conference action on Friday, Dec. 15, before dropping three non-conference games. Rison fell to Baptist Prep, 6627, in a game played Dec.

Lady Bears Beat Junction City, Fordyce

WOODLAWN - Sarah Melhorn hit four of Woodlawn's 11 3-pointers as the Lady Bears hammered the Junction City Lady Dragons, 66-33, in 6-2A conference action last Thursday at the Woodlawn Gym. The Lady Bears improved to 2-1 in conference play and 8-5 overall with the win.

Bears Split at Flippin Classic

FLIPPIN, Ark. - Woodlawn led by as many as 14 in the first half before Kingston eventually found its shooting range as the Yellowjackets handed the Bears a 66-54 setback Saturday to split a pair games Woodlawn played at Flippin High School in north central Arkansas.
