Republicans Announce Filing Fees

RISON - The Cleveland County Republican Committee announced the filing period for justice of the peace, constable and committee membership will begin at noon Monday, Nov. 3, and end at noon Wednesday, Nov. 12.The Republican Primary is scheduled on March 3, 2026, and the general election is Nov.

Democrats Set Filing Dates, Fees

RISON - The Democrat Party of Cleveland County will have their candidate filing period Nov. 3-12 for all candidates filing and those that are interested in becoming a member of Democratic County Committee in Cleveland County.On Nov. 3 - Nov 12, 2025 the filing will start at noon on Nov.

Standard Time Will Begin at 2 a.m. Sunday

RISON - Be sure to "fall back" one hour before bed Saturday night as the time changes to Standard Time at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Daylight Saving Time will resume at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Pioneer Village Gives Tour To Shepherd Center

RISON - The Pioneer Village gave a tour and luncheon for the members of the Shepherd Center of Monticello, a community event for the over 50 crowd. The members enjoyed walking the grounds and reminiscing about their childhoods. Lunch was provided afterwards.

Veterans Dinner Saturday at Fairgrounds

The Cleveland County Veterans Association will host its annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner Saturday, Oct. 25, organizers Roger McClellan and Randy Morgan have announced. The dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.

County Candidate Forum Seeking Local Questions

RISON - The Cleveland County Republican Committee will host a forum for Republican candidates in contested races for local offices. The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church, 2230 Hwy. 35 North near Rison.

Rison FFA Fish Fry, Bingo Nov. 15

RISON - Rison FFA will host a fish fry and bingo fundraiser Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.Each plate is $15 and includes a half pound of catfish fillets, fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw, baked beans and condiments.Plates can be picked up between 5:30 and 7 p.m.

Kingsland Council To Meet Thursday

KINGSLAND - Kingsland City Council will meet for Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Kinsgland City Hall, Mayor Karen Wiscaver has announced. The Kingsland City Council meets the fourth Thursday of each month.

Baby Shower Nov. 2 for Wards

RISON - There will be a baby shower for Lindsey and Tristan Ward on Nov. 2 at Rison Baptist Church at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall. It's a girl! They are registered at Walmart and Amazon.
