Rison Shine Bringing Back BBQ Cook Off, Pageant

RISON - Rison Shine has announced the return of the Rison BBQ Cook Off and Pageant, set for Saturday, April 6 in Downtown Rison.Both events were formerly part of Rison in the Fall before interest and participation waned.

Solar Eclipse Topic Monday Meeting At Library in Rison

RISON - Darcy Howard and Carly Freyaldenhoven from the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society will be discussing the April 8 solar eclipse from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Cleveland County Library, 203 Magnolia in Rison.

Rison Shine, Pioneer Village Seeking Candy for Easter Egg Hunt

RISON - Rison Shine and the Pioneer Village will host their annual Easter Eggstravaganza Saturday, March 30 at the Pioneer Village, 200 Yaney Drive in Rison. The event will kick off at 9 a.m. with "Breakfast with the Bunny." Breakfast is $5 per plate and includes pancakes, sausage and juice.

Vegetable Gardening 101 Workshop Saturday at Rison

RISON - Beginning gardeners are encouraged to attend the "Vegetable Gardening 101" workshop presented by the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Service from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street across the courthouse in Rison.

Rison Elementary Monday - No School. Tuesday - nachos or hamburger. Wednesday - Sloppy Joes or Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Thursday - Chicken Nuggets or mini corndogs. Friday - pizza, pizza and sidekicks (+nachos for 4-6 grade). Rison High School Monday - No School.

RISON - Anyone passing through downtown Rison last Thursday evening may have noticed a little commotion going on it in front of the old Cash Grocery building in the 200 block of Main Street.
