RISON - Benny and Ann Dixon of Rison will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this week.The couple married January 30, 1965 in Woodlawn.

Elin BradleyThe Rison High School Student of the Month for December for grades 7-9 is Elin Bradley. Elin is in the 8th grade and is the granddaughter of James Johnson. Her activities include Jr. Beta Club, Jr. FBLA, Jr. High Quiz Bowl, and Student Council. She is also the 8th grade class president.

Hunter To Speak Monday at Master Gardeners Meeting

RISON - The Cleveland County Master Gardeners have announced guests for their February and March meetings.Ms. Shawn Hunter will speak at the meeting Monday, Feb. 3 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.Douglas Stanton will speak at the following month’s meeting, Monday, March 3 at the Fairgrounds.

Cutters & Strutters Plan Squirrel Hunt Saturday

RISON - The Cleveland County “Cutters and Strutters” Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) will conduct their annual squirrel hunt this  Saturday, Feb. 1.

Rash of Vehicle Thefts Reported in County

RISON - The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department is continuing an investigation into a rash of car thefts last week that resulted in two vehicles being recovered south of Rison and another still missing.

DEEP FREEZE - A couple of days of sub-freezing temperatures in Cleveland County resulted in what could be described as a frozen waterfall over the side of a stack of logs at the Wilson Brothers Saw Mill on Hwy. 79 south of Rison Tuesday.

Rison Woman Dies In Traffic Accident

RISON - Sandra Coleman, 50, of Rison, died last Wednesday morning, Jan. 15, in a traffic accident along Hwy. 79  in Jefferson County just north of the Cleveland County line, according to Arkansas State Police.
