Revival Aug. 7-9 At First Baptist

RISON - First Baptist Church, 301 Mockinbird in Rison, will hold revival Aug. 7-9 at 7 p.m. nightly, Rev. Terry Reams, Sr., has announced.Rev Raeshawn Howard, Sr., of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff will be guest speaker Aug. 7 and 8.

County Sales Tax Collections on Decline

RISON - After enjoying unexpected gains in sales tax revenue over the past few years, Cleveland County may be seeing a reversal of fortunes.Over the first six months of this year, Cleveland County collected less revenue in five of those months when compared to the monthly collections last year.
PROTECTING NEW STREETS - Mayor Sharon Crosby reminded the Kingsland City Council last week that the city has an ordinance that prohibits tractor trailers, log trucks and other heavy trucks from using or parking along city streets unless those trucks are making a delivery or harvesting timber along that street. She said she wanted to remind the council after the city recently paved Bear State Street (above) and Holman Street for the first time.

KINGSLAND - With two streets being freshly paved for the first time, Mayor Sharon Crosby reminded the Kingsland City Council during its meeting last Thursday that the city has an ordinance that forbids heavy trucks and trailers from using city streets that are not designated as truck routes.

Veterans Dinner Set For Oct. 26

RISON - The Cleveland County Veterans Association will host its annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner Saturday, Oct. 26, organizers John Blanchard, Roger McClellan and Randy Morgan have announced.The dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds.
