King Wins Miss Boomtown Crown, Heads to Miss Arkansas

EL DORADO - Alli Beth King was crowned Miss Boomtown 2025 Saturday, Aug. 24, in El Dorado, Arkansas. Miss Boomtown is a preliminary for the Miss Arkansas pageant to be held at Robinson Auditorium in June 2025. This will be King's third time to compete in Miss Arkansas.

RISON - The Cleveland and County Cooperative Extension offices will be hosting of training session on the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet in September and October.The sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, and Tuesday, Oct 1.

UAM Investment Club Receives $40,000 Grant

MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) received a $40,000 grant from the Walton Family Foundation, at the recommendation of Lukas Walton, to further advance the UAM Investment Club.

Fire Destroys Poultry House Near Woodlawn

WOODLAWN - A poultry house located on Ryburn Road in the Woodlawn area was totally destroyed by fire Sunday evening, Aug. 25, according to Woodlawn Fire Chief Owen Rushing.

State Estimates $18 Million for Broadband

MONTICELLO - The Arkansas State Broadband Office projects that Cleveland County could receive more than $18 million in grant money to install fiber optic broadband to "unserved" or "under-served" locations in the county.
