Thornton Festival, BBQ Cookoff Set For Saturday, Sept.16

THORNTON - The City of Thorton and Thornton Step-by-Step, Inc. Will sponors its third annual Fall Festival and its second annual Hot Lips Barbeque Cookoff on Saturday, Sept. 16. The Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At the Roy Yarbrough City Park on Hwy.

Free Giveaway Sat. at Cayce's Food Bank

THORNTON - by Cayce House in Thornton, located at 403 South Second Street will host a free food giveaway Saturday, Sept. 9 from 8:30 - 11 a.m. Food this month includes potatoes, meat, food sacks, drinks, snacks and more. This event is sponsored by Daniel, Candice and Joannie Cayce.

Food Pantry Sept. 16 at Macedonia MBC

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, located on Hwy. 35 South, will open its Food Pantry Saturday, Aug. 19 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The church holds its food pantry the third Saturday of each month.

Woodlawn Community Park Meeting Sunday

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn Community Park Association will hold a community meeting Sunday, September 10 at 2 p.m. in the Woodlawn Community Center, Larry Reynolds has announced. Action items will be reorganizing the WCPA board, bylaws and 501c3 discussion.

Mt. Olivet To Host Food Bank Saturday

CALMER - Mount Olivet Methodist Church at Calmer will have its Food Bank from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, the church has announced. Mount Olivet is located at the Hwy. 63/ Hwy. 114 junction at Calmer. The food bank is held the second Saturday of each month.

County Democrats To Meet on Sept. 9

RISON - The Democratic Party of Cleveland County will have a County Committee meeting at noon Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building in Rison, County Chair Jametta Harper has announced. Any and all interested citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting.

Pine Bluff VFW To Host POW/MIA Ceremony Sept. 15

PINE BLUFF - The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4455, will be hosting a POW & MIA Remembrance Ceremony Friday, Sept. 15 starting at 6 p.m. with the Watson Chaple JROTC presenting the colors. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments and fellowship will follow around 7 p.m.
