Judge Reaches Decision In 10-Year-Old Cattle Dispute

RISON - In a court case that seems more suited for the 19th century rather than the 21st, a Cleveland County Circuit Court judge recently rendered a decision regarding the ownership of a herd of cattle located in the Rye community that has been in limbo for nearly 10 years.

RISON - Rison Shine Community Development is seeking floats for its annual Cleveland County Christmas Parade next Thursday, Dec. 7 in downtown Rison. This year's parade will conclude with a Christmas Party in the Park on Main Street.

Christmas in Village To Be Held Saturday At Pioneer Village

RISON - The Pioneer Village's annual Christmas in the Village Festival is set for this Saturday, Dec. 2, at the historic village property in Rison. Breakfast with Santa The festival will kick off at 8 a.m. with Breakfast with Santa through 10 a.m. There is a $5 charge for breakfast.

It's Beginning To Look Like Christmas in New Edinburg

NEW EDINBURG - Susanne Wagnon and Family, with help from volunteers in the community worked to put up Christmas lights along the street in the downtown portion of New Edinburg before Thanksgiving. The Wagnon Family began the light displays in New Edinburg in 2003.

Primary Ballot Draw To Be Held Dec. 7

RISON - The ballot draw for the 2024 preferential primary election has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the courthouse in Rison, John Appleget with the Cleveland County Election Commission has announced.

School Lunches for November 27-December 1

Rison Elementary Monday - chili with cornbread or pizza stick with marinara. Tuesday - Tacos or hamburger. Wednesday - meatballs with mashed potatoes or chicken sandwich. Thursday - chicken fried rice or grilled cheese with fries. Friday - pizza, pizza and sidekicks, Nachos for 4-6th grade.

RISON - Rison United Methodist Church will be hosting a food pantry from 9 to 10:30 a.m. the fourth Saturday of each month. The next food pantry will be held Saturday, Nov. 25. Note for the month of December, the pantry will be open on the fifth Saturday, Dec. 30.
