Rison Sees 6-Inch Water Main Break

RISON - Rison Mayor Charles Roberts said he is attributing the rupture of a six-inch water main in a wooded area along Harrison Creek early Saturday as a residual effect from the early February ice storm. Roberts said the city was notified by the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department at about 5 a.

Auditions Sunday for Theater's 'Creeps'

RISON - Auditions for Cleveland County Community Theater's upcoming production of "Meet the Creeps," directed by Dana Edwards, have been set for Sunday, April 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. The creepy-themed show will feature a large ensemble cast of youth and adults.

Breakfast Before Easter Services

RISON - Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church will hold a fellowship breakfast in advance of its Easter service on Sunday, April 9, the church has announced. A fellowship breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. in the Family Life Center followed by the Easter morning worship service at 9 a.m.

Jury Finds Water Tank Shooter Guilty

RISON - A jury in Cleveland County Circuit Court on Tuesday afternoon found Timothy Sled, 39, of Kingsland, guilty of two felony charges for shooting a hole in the water tank at Kingsland last year. Sled was ordered to pay $10,000 in fines and $5,000 in restitution for shooting the tank last May.

Homesteading Conference Sees Record Attendance Saturday

RISON - The Arkansas Homesteading Conference set a new single-day attendance record this past weekend with an estaimted crowd of more than 300 taking in the annual event held at this year at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison.

Countywide Bicycle Event Set For June

RISON - The inaugural Crusin' Cleveland County Bicycle Ride has officially been set for Saturday, June 17, Darren Austin, director of the event, has announced. Austin, in coordination with Rison Mayor Charles Roberts, hosted the first planning meeting Monday evening to get the wheels turning.
