Woodlawn senior pitcher Lillie Faye McWhorter was named the 2025 Gatorade Softball Player of the Year for Arkansas on Monday, recognizing her as the top high school softball player in the state regardless of classification. Gatorade Player of the Year is the top honor in high school sports, celebrating each state’s best high school athletes in each sport for their success on the field, in the classroom and in the community. McWhorter will be playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks next season.

CHICAGO - In its 40th year of honoring the nation's most elite high school athletes, Gatorade announced Monday that Lillie Faye McWhorter of Woodlawn High School is the 2024-25 Gatorade Arkansas Softball Player of the Year.

Summer Program Begins Thursday at County Library

Ceremony Renaming Kingsland Post Office After Johnny Cash is Saturday

KINGSLAND - The U.S. Postal Service will be hosting a dedication ceremony officially renaming the Kingsland Post Office after native son and country music legend Johnny Cash at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Kingsland School auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

KINGSLAND - The Kingsland City Council decided to table a proposal to raise the water connection fee from $200 to $500 so it would have a chance to review the water department’s finances first.
