Woodlawn Starts Season 2-1; Blow Out Hermits, Indians

WOODLAWN - A trio of Bears scored in double figures as Woodlawn blew out the Poyen Indians, 57-27, last Friday night at Woodlawn. After going up 9-2 by the end of the first quarter, Woodlawn outscored Poyen 21-7 in the second to build a 30-9 lead by halftime.

Junior Bears Pick Up Wins Over Hermitage, Glen Rose

WOODLAWN - Jude Roberts scored 28 and Jake Allred had a career-high 18 as the Woodlawn Junior Bears knocked off the Hermitage Junior Hermits, 58-43, in non-conference action last Friday at Woodlawn.  The Junior Bears got off to a fast start, leading 22-9 by the end of the opening frame.

Hisaw’s 17 Paces Lady  Bears’ Victory

WOODLAWN - Faith Hisaw hit five 3-pointers to finish with 17 points as the Woodlawn Lady Bears ended a two-game skid with a 59-24 rout of the Hermitage Lady Hermits last Friday night at the Woodlawn Gym.

RISON - Another No. 1 ranked opponent stands in the way of Rison's quest to advance to the final round of the Class 3A state football playoffs, as the Charleston Tigers visit George Walker Field of Champions Friday night for a 7 o'clock semifinal battle. Rison is 11-0, while Charleston is 12-1.

Mack Sisters Pace Junior Lady Bears In Over White Hall

WOODLAWN - Kelsi Mack scored 14 and seventh-grader Preslee Mack had 10 as the Woodlawn Junior Lady Bears grabbed a double-digit lead early before putting away the White Hall Junior Lady Bulldogs, 36-21, in a non-conference game Nov. 15 at Woodlawn.

WOODLAWN - Faith Hisaw sank both of her free throws with 10 seconds left in the second overtime as the Woodlawn Lady Bears got past the Class 5A White Hall Lady Bulldogs, 67-66, in a foul-plagued matchup at the Woodlawn gym before the Thanksgiving break.
