ALLISON HOWARD, a 7th grader at Rison Middle School, was named April Student of the Month for grades 7-9. She is the daughter of Kirk and Jaclyn Howard, and the granddaughter of Bill and Carolyn Lowry, and John and Orpha Howard. She has two brothers, Josh and Matthew. Her activities and honors include FBLA (2nd Place Regionals, going to state), Junior Beta (5th Place Regionals), Majorettes and WCBC Youth Group and Choir.

Students of the Month

JULIE GARLINGTON, a senior at Rison High School, was named March student of the month for grades 10-12. She is the daughter of Keith and Jacki Garlington, and the granddaughter of Johnny Ray and Laverne Daniel, and Doyle and Paula Garlington. She has one brother, Brady.
Among the chicken entries were these two Modern Birchens that have long legs and slender bodies. Another part of the show was the showmanship competition for younger competitors.

Fairgrounds Hosts Backwoods Poultry Show

The Backwoods Poultry Show, organized by Frankie Harper of the Cleveland County Fair Board, was held this past Saturday at the fairgrounds in Rison. The show, which featured chickens, ducks and geese, drew contestants from across Arkansas as well as Iowa, Oklahoma and Missouri.
