Austin Howard (center), a third baseman/right-handed pitcher for the Woodlawn Bears baseball team, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain Community College at Mena. Austin is listed as a 6-2, 185-pound senior on the 2022-23 Woodlawn baseball roster. His parents, John and Stacy Howard, joined him at the signing ceremony held Tuesday afternoon at Woodlawn School.

Two from Cleveland County earned titles at the Buck Fever Festival held Nov. 12 in Banks. Gracen White, 15, (right) is the daughter of Derek and Hayley White, and is in the 10th grade at Rison High School. She was crowned Junior Miss Buck Fever. Josie Miller, 9, (left) is the daughter of Justin and Joye Miller, and a member of the Classical Conversations Homeschool Program. She was crowned Miss Petite Buck Fever.

Rison Students of the Month: November

Tanner Collins, an 8th grader at Rison Middle School was named November student of the month for grades 7-8. He is the son of Melinda Dollar and Mark Collins, and the grandson of Edna and Allen Owens, Donnie and Sue Manning, Margaret and Bud Graham, and Travis Collins.
RISON SCHOOL GIFTED AND TALENTED VETERANS DAY PROGRAM - The flags of the various divisions of the U.S. Armed Forces flap in the breeze as students from the Gifted and Talented program at Rison School held their annual Veterans Day program at George Walker Field of Champions. The program is becoming an annual tradition in Rison as the students pay tribute to local veterans around Veterans Day each year. This year, the program happen to fall on the same day as Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Rison Gifted and Talented honored veterans recently at George Walker Field of Champions at Rison High School. This year's program, The Soldier's Gift, was well received with many veterans, and spouses, along with students and faculty in attendance.
