Lady Bears Battle Rison for 8-2A Tourney Seeding

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn Lady Bears will go into next week's 8-2A District Tournament as a no. 5 or no. 6 seed pending the outcome of Friday's game at Rison against the Lady Wildcats. Rison is currently a half game ahead of Woodlawn in the conference standings.

Bears’ Late Rally Falls Short at Junction City, 56-51

Potter, Johnson Fuel Lady ‘Cats In 56-52 Win Over Lady Bears

WOODLAWN - Layne Potter scored 20 and Carlese Johnson added 17 as the Rison Lady Wildcats used a strong finish to get past the Woodlawn Lady Bears, 56-52, in a back-and-forth clash between the Cleveland County rivals last Thursday at the Woodlawn Gym.

Wildcats Beat Gurdon For First Victory

RISON - First-year Rison boys basketball coach Eli Dawson picked up his first victory last Friday when his Wildcats blew out the Gurdon Go Devils, 52-35, inside the Rison gym. The Wildcats’ victory broke a 17-game losing skid, making them 1-7 in 8-2A conference play and 1-17 overall.

Bears Bomb Wildcats

WOODLAWN - Landon Ashcraft and Ryan Rutledge both made three 3-pointers apiece as the Woodlawn Bears rolled to a 73-38 win over the cross-county rival Rison Wildcats last Thursday night inside the Woodlawn Gym. Woodlawn led 14-4 after the first quarter before going into the half with a 30-16 lead.

Fordyce Builds on Early Lead To Beat Lady Bears

WOODLAWN - Fordyce continued to build on its early lead throughout the game as the Ladybugs handed the Woodlawn Lady Bears their fifth straight loss, 56-39, in an 8-2A conference game last Friday night at Woodlawn. The loss dropped the Lady Bears to 9-13 overall and 2-6 in league play.

Jr. Wildcats Blow Past Jr. Bears, 43-16

WOODLAWN - Kyson Walker scored 18 points as the Rison Junior Wildcats blew by the Woodlawn Junior Bears, 43-16, last Thursday at Woodlawn.  In addition to the 18 from Walker, Kyson Fletcher had eight points while Deion Gray and Ethan Saeler both had six apiece for Rison.
