RISON - Jerrod Williams told the Cleveland County School Board during his first meeting as superintendent Monday night that it could a "tough year" for the district, but he was already proposing ideas that could save the district money.

Kingsland Music Event To Feature Several Groups Over Two Nights

KINGSLAND - Runaway Music and Kickstart Kingsland will be hosting Runaway Derailed: A Two-Night Acoustic Event featuring country and rock performances this Friday and Saturday, July 21-22, at the Kingsland School auditorium. Doors will open at 4 p.m. each night.

RISON - The Woodlawn School Board approved about 80 changes to the district's policies during the board's regular monthly meeting last week, Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock reported.

RISON - The Rison Farmers Market has been canceled for this Thursday, July 20, due to the extreme heat that is being forecast for this week, organizer Greg Jaggers has announced. The farmers market is usually held at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays at FBT Community Park in downtown Rison.

Dr. Attwood To Be Honored as 'Country Doctor' Tuesday

RISON - Dr. Sam Taggart, author of the book "Country Doctors of Arkansas" will host a reception next Tuesday, July 25 to honor Dr. Mark Attwood of Rison, one of the doctors profiled in the new book. The reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Cleveland County Library in Rison.

Drainage Project Underway at Woodlawn

WOODLAWN - Construction is currently underway to install a new drainage system around the new addition at Woodlawn High School to accommodate the new fire escape doors that have been installed at the high school.
