Nominations Open for December Yard of the Month

RISON - Cleveland County Cultivators and Master Gardeners are asking for your nominations for December Yard of the Month. County Residents have until December 15 to decorate their yards for Christmas. A decision will be made that evening as to which yard has the best Christmas decor.

RISON - Rison Shine Community Development, Inc. will host the Cleveland County Christmas Parade Thursday, Dec. 11 beginning at 7 p.m.The parade will begin in Downtown Rison with floats lining up along Pine and First Streets before making its way South on Main Street.

USDA Commodities To Be Distributed Dec. 13 at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry located at 650 Hwy. 97 in Kingsland will be handing out USDA commodities from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.Open Door Pantry usually distributes commodities on the second Saturday of each month.

Rison Fire Department Receives Blue & You Grant for Life-Saving Equipment

 RISON - The Rison Fire Department recently purchased two portable Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), two first aid kits and three Narcan canisters using a $4,359 grant from Arkansas Blue & You.

RISON - The Cleveland County and Woodlawn School Districts both learned Monday that they will be receiving state partnership money to fund new projects on their respective campuses.

Quorum Court Approves Raises in 2026 Budget

RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court approved a 2026 budget Monday night that includes a pay raise for all county employees next year, and also approved a 4 percent one-time payment for all full-time employees this year for Christmas.

County To Cease Renting Veterans Building in Rison

RISON - After some incidents of damage to the building, the Cleveland County Quorum Court unanimously approved a motion Monday night to no longer rent the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building for private events.

Christmas Events Across County Begin This Week, Set Busy December

RISON - With December bringing in the holiday season, several Christmas events are set across the county. Christmas in the Village The Pioneer Village at Rison kicks things off this week with its annual 'Christmas in the Village' event Thursday, Dec. 4.

RISON - The Cleveland County Herald will not be publishing a newspaper during the week of Dec. 22-26 due to the newspaper taking its annual Christmas break, editor/publisher Britt Talent has announced.The Herald office will be closed from noon Friday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Dec. 26.
