Woodlawn Hands Strong Its First Loss Since 2022, 58-34

STRONG - Woodlawn scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter as the Bears overcame an eight-point deficit early in the third quarter to hand the defending state champion Strong Bulldogs their first on-field loss, 58-34, since 2022.

Big Plays By Franks, Young Spark Jr. Bear Win at Strong

STRONG - Easton Franks’ 83-yard interception return and Carson Young’s 53-yard touchdown burst helped the Woodlawn Junior Bears overcome an early deficit to knock off the Strong Junior Bulldogs, 30-14, in the South Conference opener Friday afternoon at Strong.
DOMINATING RUN GAME - Rison quarterback Kyson Walker (left, 3) hands off to running back Jaquis Rauls (second from left, 6) as he follows the blocks of Javis McGhee (69) and Jeremiah Marshall (5) for a gain Friday night against Palestine-Wheatlery. Walker finished with 230 yards rushing and four touchdowns as the Wildcats amassed 421 yards rushing. Marshall had 128 yards on the ground while Rauls scored what turned out to be the winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

PALESTINE - Rison's defense pitched a shutout while its offense scored on some big plays as the Junior Wildcats opened 83A conference play with 28-0 win over the Palestine-Wheatley Junior Patriots last Thursday at Palestine.

Bears Open Conference Play at Defending State Champs

RISON - The Woodlawn Bears will be looking for their first win over the Strong Bulldogs since the 2022 season when they travel to Strong this Friday to open eight-man South Conference play against the defending state champions.The junior high teams are scheduled to play at 5 p.m.

Junior Bears Fall at Augusta

AUGUSTA - Woodlawn was unable to overcome a one-touchdown deficit at halftime as the Junior Bears closed out their non-conference schedule with a 36-22 setback to the Augusta Junior Red Devils at Augusta last Friday afternoon.

Rison Cross Country Team Places at Meets

RISON - On Sept. 6, the team placed second at the Lori McDougald Invitational at Moro Bay. Jazlyn Price came in fourth place with a time of 23:35, Riley Hyatt came in 10th place with a time of 26:12. On Sept.

Late Interception Turns Back Wildcat Rally at Robinson

LITTLE ROCK - An interception in the end zone with a little more than a minute left ended a late comeback by the Rison Wildcats as the Class 5A Joe T. Robinson Senators junior varsity hung on for a 28-24 victory last Friday night at Charlie George Stadium on the Robinson campus.
