RHS Prom Closet Sets Date for Feb. 14

RISON - RHS Prom Closet will be open Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Rison Baptist Church Jesus First Building.This day allows girls to browse and try on new and gently-used formal dresses for prom. Each girl can take home one free dress.Doors open at 9 a.m. for Rison High School students.

RISON - Rison United Methodist Church will be hosting a food pantry from 7 to 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 24.The church, located at 800 Main Street, typically holds its food pantry the fourth Saturday of each month, but is one week earlier this month.

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, located at 7370 Hwy. 35 South, will open its Food Pantry Saturday, Jan. 17 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The church holds its food pantry the third Saturday of each month.

Jake's Day Squirrel, Coon Hunts This Saturday

The Jake's Day squirrel and coon hunts will take place this Saturday, Jan. 17 at the "Y" Community Center on Hwy. 35 North.Squirrel hunt will run from daylight to 11 a.m. and coon hunt will run from dark to midnight.Each team consists of one hunting dog.

County Finishes 2025 With Stronger Balance

Cleveland County Treasurer Angie Kimsey reported at the quorum court meeting that the county general fund finished 2025 with a higher balance than it had at the end of the 2024. According to her monthly financial report, Cleveland County closed 2025 with a balance of $816,417.
