GLIMPSES  FROM  THE  PAST - This week's glimpse takes a look at a hardwood timber operation in the early days of the county. The work was being carried out in Moro Creek bottoms near Kingsland. 10  YEARS  AGONOVEMBER  19,  2014The board of the Cleveland County School District gave Supt. Johnnie Johnson permission to sign off on a settlement reached by the district's insurance company concerning a wrongful dismissal lawsuit filed by former Rison Elementary School principal Ron Sims.
GLIMPSES  FROM  THE  PAST - This glimpse from about 1928, shows the inside of the Bank of Rison when it was located on the northwest corner of Second and Main streets. Identified in the photo are, left to right, J.W. Elrod, H.G. Attwood and Searcy Elrod. Later the bank was located at the southeast corner of Second and Main, and today, Gateway Bank (formerly The Bank of Rison) is located at the northeast corner of Second and Main.
